New Designs (YAY!) But No Book Review (NO!)
Hello my fellow readers!
I was going to post another book review today (I even put it in my new, handy-dandy planner!) but I just got too caught up with the fact that TODAY IS THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOL FOR ME!!! I am so happy/relieved I could scream, but my neighbors might call the police or something and that would be bad... So for now, I'm keeping it all inside me. Though the next person that brings me to a basketball game might get severe ear problems.. Oops.
Well, anyway, instead of doing what I'd planned, I had a blast doing whatever I wanted today. But, to make it up to you, I did a little re-designing to this blog. First off, I put a "Coming Soon" section. It is in order of what I'm going to post, first to last. I read a few books that I wouldn't otherwise read if not for this blog. Some of them are for the younger audiences I might possibly be getting, if I'm getting any audience at all. (I've sort of been to afraid to check the part of the settings where you can look to see how many page views you've gotten... Its pretty embarrassing!) I just added a "Follow Me" section, too, so I guess I'll see how far that goes. There is a poll, too, underneath the "All About Me" section. You can choose from 3 different options. Check it out and vote, vote, vote! At the very bottom of my blog I also added some of my favorite poems and advice. I will be adding on to that very often because I am the biggest poem/advice fanatic you've ever met. I also did some minor font/color re-designing, as you can see.
I've just started a new post, the first on the "Coming Soon" list. Its called "Watership Down" by Richard Adams. Its a pretty old book. You'll learn more about it soon, I promise. Weekends are usually very busy for me, but a new post will be out there by Monday, or Tuesday at the latest.
Hope everyone is having a good summer! I've got some a bunch of travel plans already; I can't wait! I'll keep you updated on those so you know when I can blog and when I won't be able to. I'll always be working on this blog though, even if I'm not typing. Thank heavens you can take a book almost anywhere!

Dust Lands (Soon-To-Be-Series) by Moira Young
I literally just finished this book. I had to blog about it, it was so fantastic!
But I can't get ahead if myself here. First off, I found out about this book from a friend. She lent it to me, and I started reading it when I got home today. It was 460 pages of pure joy. Let me tell you a little about this book: So, there is this 18 year-old girl names Saba. She has a twin brother named Lugh. He gets kidnapped and their father gets shot. Its up to Saba to rescue Lugh while having to deal with her 9 year-old sister, whom she blames for killing their mom at childbirth.
I'll quote what the back of the book says, add a few quotes from some reviews about it, tell you about the second novel and when its coming out, and last, but not least, give my opinion. Here comes what the back of the book says!!

Sounds good, right?! Personally, I love it. So the first novel, the one that I have information from the back of the book and the book the reviews are about, is called Blood Red Road. The second novel, called Rebel Heart, is coming out October 2012. (I know, such a long way away!)
So about the book... I completely agree with all the reviews, and, as you probably have figured out, I am now in love with this book. At first it seem kind if boring and extremely weird. The grammar is all messed up, and it's as if your reading something a stereotypical southern U.S.A. person would say.
If that makes sense, here's an example I made:
I am lovin this book. It ain't what I expectid at all. Real good, thow.
This book is absolutly amazin, says my good friend who recommended the book to me, it'll be strange at first but by page 30 you'll be likin it.
I sure hope so, I says.
Translation into "proper" English:
I'm loving this book. It isn't what I expected at all. It's really good, though.
"This book is absolutely amazing," says my good friend who recommended the book to me, "It's going to be strange at first but by page 30 you'll start to like it."
"I sure hope so," I say.
So, yeah, it's a bit weird, but you get used to it. I totally recommend this book. I can't wait until October! I'll be the first to get the book.

The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins
This book review is on a widely-known/widely-popular book series, The Hunger Games. Written by Suzanne Collins, this book is in the first-person. It is set in the future, and 16 year-old Katniss Everdeen is the subject. Katniss gets sent to.... You know what? I'll just copy and paste what google books says about it. Normally I would use the back of the book, but my Hunger Games books are ebooks so I can't do that. I don't intend on breaking any copyright rules, so here is the link I got this information from:

Well, not only does it sound good, it is good! Actually, scratch that, it's not good AT ALL. It's absolutely fantastic! Phenomenal! Extraordinary! This book is just WOW. I zipped through it. I just sat down, started reading it on the iPad I'm typing on now, and I fell head over heels in love. I quickly got the 2nd and 3rd book, called "Catching Fire" (2nd) and "Mockingjay" (3rd). Although the series didn't end the way I liked, I still loved it. I mean, if it ended the way I'd hoped then that means it would be predictable, and what kind of good action book is predictable?
I would call this an all-ages book. My mom loves it, my older sister loves it, I love it, and I know a friend who has a little sister who has a friend in 4th grade that loves it. Some parents don't like their children to read the series until their older, though, and my friend's parents don't want her to read it, and she is 12. If your parents don't want you reading it then you should respect that they are just trying to protect you.

The Matched Trilogy by Allie Condie
My first book to write a review on will be Matched by Ally Condie.
A friend of mine recommended this book to me, so I got the book and starting reading it last Sunday. There are 3 books to the Matched series. Matched is the first, Crossed is the second, and Reached (which is going to come out November 2012). All the covers represent the color of one of the three tablets that all citizens of the Society have to carry around, everywhere. There is a strong connection between the tablet that's color is on the cover on each book. For example, in the second book, Crossed, Xander gives Cassia a lot of blue tablets for her journey. He slips notes into the tablets so when she cracks them open she has one note per tablet. There is one note in a tablet that is very mysterious, and the question in your head can only be answered in the next book, Reached, therefore your supposed to be hooked on the book and count down the days until Reached comes out. (I can't wait until November!!)
A lot of people are saying that if you liked the Hunger Games you'll most likely enjoy this book. If your not to crazy about the first book, Matched, just try reading the second because it has way more adventure. I would say that the series is somewhat similar to the Hunger Games (which series I absolutely love) but there is less action in these books and more romance, but not too much more. Now just a summary of the book before I share my complete thoughts:
Cassia has always trusted the Society to make the right choices for her: what to read, what to watch, what to believe. So when Xander’s face appears on-screen at her Matching ceremony, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is her ideal mate…until she sees Ky Markham’s face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black.
The Society tells her it’s a glitch, a rare malfunction, and that she should focus on the happy life she’s destined to lead with Xander. But Cassia can’t stop thinking about Ky, and as they slowly fall in love, Cassia begins to doubt the Society’s infallibility and is faced with an impossible choice: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she’s known and a path that no one else has dared to follow.

Every day is expected. Your life is scheduled even down to even your opportunities for marriage and, eventual, death. Cassia learns her Match is someone she’s known forever, Xander, but she is suddenly shown an 'alternative' choice, Ky, whom she also knows. He really isn't an alternative choice in the the Society's mind. She was matched with Xander and it is Xander in which she will be with forever. Or so they thought. Cassia has no idea what she is going to do, because she loves both of them in a very different way. It's passion vs. perfection, and she has to choose.
I think that these books are fantastic. The minute I starting reading Matched I couldn't stop. When I finished, I bought the Crossed ebook immediately and starting reading it. I was in my room all of Sunday flipping page after page after page. I couldn't get enough of it! I can't believe I have to wait until November. That's more than half a year away! Another friend of mine, who likes the Hunger Games as well, isn't too fond of the book. She says it's boring. I'm trying to get her to read the second book, because it really is much better than the first. If you like adventure, a love triangle, and questions that leave you hanging, then Crossed is for you.
